This month, the Penfield Business Chamber is pleased to highlight SunCommon NY.
SunCommon NY is a local, employee-owned solar company and was recently awarded the No. 1 spot on this year’s Top 100 list of fastest-growing companies in the Rochester area.
In 2002, five college friends hatched Sustainable Energy Developments, Inc. (SED). Through evolution and innovation, the company relocated to 104 East and renamed to SunCommon NY, which has grown into the largest installer of solar energy in Rochester, Western, and Central NY.
The company utilizes a community organizing approach to engaging the community in dialogue about the solar opportunity here in Rochester-- which includes Residential, Community, or Commercial Solar at no upfront cost. The Community Solar program is the first of its kind in the area and allows anyone with an electric bill to take advantage of the benefits of solar, even if you rent or own a home that is not viable for solar panels.
Kevin Schulte, SunCommon NY CEO, likes to say “The future of solar is now. Over the last three years, the cost of solar energy has become competitive with conventional sources of electricity, whether you own a home, a business, or live in an apartment. We provide the opportunity for all consumers to go solar and save money.”
You are empowered to choose locally produced and generated solar energy, which saves you money and strengthens our economy, environment, and electrical grid. Learn how it works by visiting www.suncommon.com.
